The Penang Eurasian Association will soon be organising a major celebration to coincide with the Feast of the Assumption.

This celebration is a cultural heritage held around the Church. The event features authentic Eurasian (Serani) cuisines such as sugee cakes, tarts, fruit and fish pickles, mini chicken pies, debal/devil’s curry, acar awak, rendang chicken and many more alongside live band performances and sing-along to entertain everyone.
The Feast of the Assumption is deeply tied to the Island’s History and centred around the historical Church of the Assumption in Georgetown where the local Catholic community and Penang Eurasian Assoc hosts special Jubilee masses, cultural heritage events and food fair.
It is also to commemorate the anniversary of Captain Francis Light bringing in the Portuguese Eurasians from Kuala Kedah to Penang island on the ship Speedwell on 15/8/1786. This year also marks the 240th anniversary of the Assumption Day.
