The Hyatt hotel brand will make its debut in Penang this December this year.
Strategically located within Light Waterfront along the Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway, will introduce 459 contemporary guest rooms, further strengthening Penang’s premium hospitality offering.
The latest update was confirmed by Dato Tony Ling, Chief Executive Officer of IJM Land Berhad at a media engagement session recently.
The hotel is designed to cater to both business and leisure travellers, providing seamless access to key commercial districts, the Penang Waterfront Convention Centre (PWCC) and the island’s major attractions.
As an integral component of the Light Waterfront Penang mixed-use development, the new hotel will complement the Penang Waterfront Convention Centre (PWCC) by enhancing the destination’s capability to host international conferences, exhibitions, corporate events and large-scale gatherings.

Together with the upcoming retail mall – Waterfront Shoppes is slated to open its doors on Oct 29, the hotel will contribute to creating a vibrant waterfront lifestyle precinct where visitors can stay, meet, shop, dine and unwind within a single integrated destination.
The addition of Hyatt hotel is expected to reinforce Light City’s position as one of Penang’s emerging business, tourism and lifestyle hubs, supporting the state’s growing appeal as a destination for both domestic and international travellers.
As part of the opening, walk-in interviews will be held at the Penang Waterfront Convention Centre (PWCC) on Sunday, Sept 20 and Monday, Sept 21, 2026 for potential talents. Vacancies are available for various disciplines across the hotel.
Upon its opening, the Hyatt’s debut in Penang, introducing one of the world’s leading hospitality brands to the state.
