There is a “new kid on the block” in the hospitality industry in Penang.
Ms Tammy Khoo has been appointed as the hotel manager at the JEN Penang Georgetown by Shangri-La here.
Khoo is actually a Penangite who had moved to Kuala Lumpur for better pastures and opportunities.
Since her parents are still staying here, it is back to “home sweet home” again.
She first started in the hospitality industry when she started work in the Equatorial Hotel way back in the early days.
Over the years, she has grown in the sales department career till her last posting as the Resident Manager at the Traders Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
Moving forward, her new challenge is meeting the expectations after being named as the hotel manager for the property in the heart of Georgetown.
“I like to observe a hands-on style of management as engagement with the staff members is very important nowadays.
“I also welcome employees to approach me directly and adopt an open door policy if there are any issues or matters they would want to discuss privately,” she added.
With the reopening of international borders, the JEN Penang Georgetown is already making inroads to entice a fair share in the tourism and travel industry.
When asked what is her favourite pastime or hobby, Khoo was quick to add that watching TV is among her top off duty activities. She adds that one can learn a lot from the documentaries and new channels on the various happenings around the world.
“Some might call it being a couch potato but for me it really helps me relax and unwind after a hard day’s work. Among my other plans are to travel to Japan once I get more time on my hand,” she quipped.
Penang Hyperlocal congratulates Tammy Khoo congratulation on her posting and success on her future undertakings.
