Penang is set to enjoy enhanced air connectivity with Singapore as Scoot, the low-cost arm of Singapore Airlines, announced it will increase its Singapore–Penang service from three to four daily flights starting 22 November 2025.
Penang State Executive Councillor for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Wong Hon Wai, confirmed the update following official notification from the airline.
“This announcement from Scoot marks another milestone in strengthening Penang’s air links with Singapore, one of our key international markets,” Wong said. “With greater frequency and improved flexibility, the route will better serve both leisure and business travellers. Tickets for the additional service are now available on Scoot’s official website.”
According to Scoot’s updated schedule, the new morning service will depart Singapore at 6:50amM, arriving in Penang at 8:30am. The return leg leaves Penang at 9:30am, landing at Changi Airport by 11:00am.
Wong attributed the successful expansion to close coordination between stakeholders, including Penang International Airport, Scoot’s Singapore team, PETACE, Penang Global Tourism (PGT) and Tourism Malaysia’s Singapore office.
The additional flight helps fill the void left by Jetstar Asia, which previously suspended its Singapore–Penang operations.
“With the new frequency, Scoot will now operate four daily flights covering morning, afternoon, and evening slots, offering travellers more options to tailor their itineraries,” Wong said.
Scoot joins other carriers currently serving the route — including Singapore Airlines, AirAsia and Batik Air, which is scheduled to begin operations on 8 December 2025. In total, the Singapore–Penang corridor will offer 91 weekly flights, reinforcing Penang’s position as a well-connected regional destination.
“Singapore consistently ranks among the top three international markets for Penang. Between January and August 2025 alone, 103,913 Singaporean visitors arrived via international flights,” Wong noted.
He added that the increased capacity is expected to boost arrivals further, particularly among short-haul travellers, and drive economic impact across Penang’s hospitality, F&B, retail and creative sectors.
“Air connectivity is the engine of tourism growth,” Wong added. “Every new route brings Penang closer to the world. The Penang State Government remains committed to expanding international and regional links by working with airlines, airport authorities, and tourism partners — reinforcing our role as a key aviation hub and travel destination in the region.”
