Even after four decades, the bond among former staff members of Shangri-La Penang remains as strong as ever.
Their annual gathering continues to be a much-cherished occasion, a time to revisit fond memories, reminisce about the good old days and, of course, catch up on what has been happening in each other’s lives.
This year, some 60 former colleagues came together over dinner at St Giles Wembley, proving that while time may have moved on, old friendships have stood the test of time.
In keeping with the Merdeka celebrations, the evening began on a patriotic note as the guests sang the national anthem. Other diners at the coffeehouse were quick to join in, adding to the warmth and spirit of the occasion.
This was followed by a sumptuous buffet dinner, with plenty of laughter, conversation and the sharing of memories around the tables.
The evening ended on an even more cheerful note, with guests receiving door gifts and taking part in a lucky draw.
For these former Shangri-La Penang colleagues, the annual gathering is more than just a reunion — it is a celebration of friendship, camaraderie and memories that have remained precious after 40 years.
