The Penang International Food Festival (PIFF) @ Tanjong 2025 is making a comeback next month on three weekends in November. .

Present to announce the festival’s details and sponsors was Deputy Finance Minister YB Lim Hui Ying, who is also the Member of Parliament for Tanjong.

She was joined by YB Wong Hon Wai, State Executive Councillor for Tourism and Creative Economy; YB Wong Yuee Harng, State Assemblyman for Pengkalan Kota; Abdul Hadi Che Man, Director of Tourism Malaysia (Northern Region); and Ooi Chok Yan, Chief Executive Officer of Penang Global Tourism (PGT), along with other distinguished guests.

In her address, YB Lim Hui Ying expressed her delight in welcoming guests and sponsors to the PIFF @ Tanjong 2025 press conference.

“Over the years, the Penang State Government and its agencies have worked tirelessly to preserve our city’s heritage while enhancing liveability. At Sia Boey Urban Archaeological Park, over RM29 million has been invested since 2019 to upgrade and maintain the area, transforming it into Malaysia’s first urban archaeological park, where heritage and renewal meet.

Similarly, Armenian Park has been redesigned into a vibrant green space, complete with lighting, seating, and an inviting area for community gatherings,” she shared.

She continued, “As Member of Parliament for Tanjong, my mission is to put people first — by creating spaces and opportunities for our communities to connect, and by celebrating what makes Penang truly special. And what better way to do that than through food — the universal language that brings people together.

“That is why we proudly present PIFF @ Tanjong 2025, a celebration of Penang’s world-famous food across three weekends in November, each with its own theme and location.”

Lim added that this marks the second year of PIFF @ Tanjong, following its successful debut last year as a two-day event.

“This year, we’re expanding it into a three-weekend festival — a reflection of the community’s growing enthusiasm and strong support from our partners.”

The festival dates are as follows: Nov 1 & 2 – Sia Boey (9am–5pm) and Armenian Park (5pm–11pm), Nov 8 & 9 – Hin Bus Depot and Nov 15 & 16 – Grand Finale at Beach Street (4pm–11pm)

Lim also extended her appreciation to the event sponsors:

Platinum Sponsors – Genting Malaysia, NationGate Holdings, Top Glove Corporation
Gold Sponsors – Chery Corporate Malaysia, Mamee Double Decker Distribution, Shopee Mobile Malaysia, THC Sdn Bhd
Other Sponsors – Hunza (Penang International Commercial City), IOI Business Hotel (Courtyard by Marriott Penang), Kobay Assets, Magnificent Emblem, World Class Land (Citadines Connect Bertam Georgetown Penang), Konwa Industries, NCT PMT Alliance, Tah Wah Group, Demogates, Frank Laurent, Hin Bus Depot, Kung Bros, PPB Properties (The Whiteaways Arcade, Penang), and The Founders Café.

Meanwhile, YB Wong Hon Wai highlighted Penang’s growing international culinary reputation.

“Recently, global media outlet TimeOut named Penang as one of Asia’s Top 10 Must-Eat Street Food Cities, describing it as an affordable, convenient, and delicious destination where travellers ‘will never go hungry.’ This recognition reinforces Penang’s title as Asia’s Best Street Food City,” he said.

He also shared that the Penang State Government has submitted an application to Jabatan Warisan Negara (JWN) to nominate 10 traditional Penang dishes as part of Malaysia’s Heritage Foods. These iconic dishes include Nasi Kandar, Pasembur, Char Kue Kak, Mi Hokkien, Mi Jawa, Oh Chien, Mi Udang, Mi Sotong, Kerabu Bihun, and Roti Benggali.

YB Wong encouraged everyone — locals, tourists, and food enthusiasts alike — to join in the celebration.

“Come and savour Penang’s beloved dishes, from Nasi Kandar to Pasembur, Char Kue Kak, and more, at PIFF @ Tanjong 2025 — right here in the heart of George Town.”
