Members of the Lions Club of George Town gathered at Noble Season Chinese Restaurant at Penang Plaza for a special appreciation dinner celebrating another year of service, fellowship and community impact.
The dinner was hosted by outgoing President Dato Gulab Mahatam Rai as he concluded his term of office. The event brought together about 50 club members, spouses and friends in a warm and joyous atmosphere, reflecting the strong bonds forged through years of serving the community.
Also present to lend support was Past District Governor Ms Jennifer Kim.

In his address, Gulab commended the club for its unwavering commitment to charitable work and community service throughout its 62-year history.
“The Lions Club of George Town has long played a meaningful role in supporting those in need and improving lives within our community. This legacy has only been possible because of the dedication and generosity of our members and supporters,” he said.
He expressed his appreciation to past presidents, members and volunteers who had contributed their time, energy and resources to the club’s many humanitarian and community initiatives.
“I wish to thank our past presidents, members and supporters for their time, support, understanding and encouragement. Your commitment has enabled the club to continue making a positive difference in the lives of others.
“I would also like to thank the spouses and families for their endless support and understanding. Their encouragement behind the scenes has been invaluable in helping us carry out our service to the community,” he added.

As a token of appreciation, Gulab presented commemorative bowls to several outstanding members in recognition of their dedication and service.
Explaining the symbolism behind the gift, he said: “The bowl is shaped and polished over time. It has been formed, tested and refined through years of experience, service and lessons learned. It is strong, steady and reliable, just like our past leaders and senior members.
“What fills the bowl represents the journey ahead, our activities, community projects, service spirit and future aspirations. It reminds us that there is always more we can do to help others and strengthen our communities.”
Gulab also welcomed newly elected president Mr Kenji and his incoming board, expressing confidence that they would continue the club’s proud tradition of service and charitable outreach in the coming term.
As the evening progressed, members took the opportunity to reconnect, share memories and strengthen friendships, underscoring the fellowship that lies at the heart of the Lions movement and its mission of serving the community.
