A delegation of 19 cultural and community associations under the Muhibbah Council Penang, led by its Chairman YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri (Dr) Haji Mohd Yussof Latiff, paid a courtesy visit to Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang, Tun Ramli Ngah Talib, at Seri Mutiara this afternoon, 12 November 2025 | 21 Jamadilawal 1447H.
The meeting was held in a warm and engaging atmosphere, reflecting the Council’s commitment to fostering unity and understanding among Penang’s diverse communities. During the audience, representatives from each association shared with Tun the origins, heritage, and cultural evolution of their respective communities, highlighting how their forebears made Penang their home and contributed to the state’s rich multicultural identity.
Tun Ramli Ngah Talib expressed deep interest in the historical narratives and unique traditions presented by the associations. He engaged the delegates with thoughtful questions about their ancestral roots, migration stories, and the establishment of their associations, noting how these histories have shaped Penang’s harmonious social fabric.
During the session, Tan Sri Yussof also briefed Tun that 8 February has been declared as Unity Day by all the associations under the Muhibbah Council, symbolizing their shared commitment to peace, harmony, and mutual respect among Penang’s multi-ethnic communities. He further shared that the Muhibbah Council’s 20th Anniversary Commemorative Book is scheduled to be launched by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim in December, marking two decades of the Council’s dedication to promoting unity and cultural understanding.
Tun Ramli commended the Muhibbah Council for its pivotal role as a platform uniting various organizations and communities to nurture the spirit of goodwill (semangat muhibbah), harmony, and solidarity among Penang’s multiracial society. He noted that the Council’s initiatives — including community programs, inter-ethnic dialogues, and unity-based activities — have greatly contributed to strengthening social cohesion across the state.
Tun expressed his hope that these noble efforts will continue and be further strengthened, ensuring that Penang remains a model state of harmony and unity among its diverse population.
The audience concluded with a group photograph and an exchange of mementos, symbolizing the shared commitment between the Muhibbah Council and the State’s leadership to uphold Penang’s legacy as a beacon of multicultural coexistence and mutual respect.
