After more than a decade shaping the brand and voice of one of Penang’s leading lifestyle hotels, Christina Tan has embarked on a new and purposeful chapter, one rooted in education and the development of future talents.
Tan previously served for over 14 years as the Director of Marketing and Communications at G Hotel, where she played a key role in elevating the hotel’s profile both locally and internationally.
During her tenure, she was actively involved in high-level campaigns, partnerships and industry engagements, representing the hotel at major events and contributing to its many accolades and recognitions.
Her work also extended beyond marketing. Tan was part of various initiatives that bridged industry and community, from hospitality collaborations with educational institutions to corporate social responsibility programmes,reflecting her long-standing passion for nurturing talent and giving back to society.
Today, Tan has transitioned into academia, taking on the role of Director of Group Marketing and Growth at SEGi University & Colleges, based in Petaling Jaya. The institution is one of Malaysia’s largest private education providers, with multiple campuses nationwide and a diverse student population.
In her current position, Tan oversees marketing strategy and growth initiatives across the group, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with colleges throughout the country.
The role demands not only strategic leadership but also a deep understanding of how education and industry intersect, an area where her hospitality background proves invaluable.
For Tan, the move into education is more than just a career shift, it is a calling.
Having spent years in the hospitality industry, she has long harboured a desire to share her experience with the next generation.
Her goal is to help shape aspiring professionals in hospitality and related sectors, equipping them with real-world insights, industry expectations and the soft skills required to thrive.
Her journey reflects a natural progression, from building brands and guest experiences to now shaping minds and careers. In doing so, Tan continues to leave her mark, this time, not just on the industry, but on the people who will define its future.
