The St. Giles Wembley Hotel in Georgetown ushered in the magic of the holiday season with a heart-warming twist at its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
This year, the hotel opened its doors—and its Christmas trees—to the young residents of the Children’s Protection Society Penang, inviting them to personally decorate the hotel’s festive centrepieces.
In the true spirit of giving, the initiative was part of the hotel’s ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts. Around 26 children, accompanied by their caretakers, were warmly welcomed by General Manager Dato’ Tony Goh and his dedicated team.
“We wanted these children to experience the simple joy and wonder of decorating Christmas trees. From what we saw today, they absolutely embraced the moment—hanging ornaments, arranging garlands, and lighting up the trees with so much excitement,” Goh shared with a smile.

The beautifully adorned Christmas trees will continue to spread joy in the hotel lobby throughout December, delighting guests and visitors until the end of the festive season.
Adding to the Christmas spirit, guests were serenaded by a charming carolling performance from the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows. The children, along with hotel staff, couldn’t help but join in, filling the lobby with cheerful voices and timeless holiday melodies.
The celebration grew even merrier as Goh presented Christmas gifts to the children—followed by a surprise appearance from Santa Claus himself, who delighted both the little ones and hotel guests with goodies and warm holiday cheer.
As the morning drew to a close, the children enjoyed a well-deserved hi-tea session prepared specially for them. Smiles, laughter, and the sound of festive chatter filled the room, marking a meaningful and memorable start to the Christmas season.
Hotel guests, too, joined in the joyful affair—celebrating the spirit of community, compassion, and togetherness that defines this time of year.
