The Amari SPICE Penang ushered in the season of joy with a heartwarming Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, accompanied by an exclusive preview of its Christmas favourites. This year’s celebration shone brighter with the presence of residents from Asia Community Service (ACS) and boys from the Salvation Army Penang Children’s Home, who were specially invited to join the ceremony and enjoy a sumptuous festive buffet dinner.

Festivities began with a warm welcoming speech by Ms. Janet Lam, Director of Marketing & Communications, followed by enchanting Christmas carols performed by the children of the Salvation Army Penang Children’s Home. Cheers and applause erupted as the Christmas tree lights glowed to life, joined and witnessed by hotel guests, media friends and heads of departments.

This year, Amari SPICE Penang proudly presents Christmas with a Cause, a celebration that blends the magic of the holidays with the spirit of community support. Beyond the sparkle of ornaments and the joy of reunions, the hotel’s mission is rooted in generosity — a reminder that the most meaningful gifts are those shared with others.

The annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony embraced a greener and more purposeful approach, celebrated alongside the hotel’s community partner, Asia Community Service (ACS). Sustainability takes centre stage as the hotel transforms into a festive wonderland shaped by creativity, community, and care. Through an inspired collaboration with ACS, the hotel brings to life a series of unique Christmas trees crafted entirely from upcycled materials:

  • Grand Lobby & Amaya Food Gallery Trees
Hand-built from repurposed wood and adorned with ornaments sewn from discarded linens and filled with recycled paper-mâché — a charming tribute to thoughtful craftsmanship and second-life materials.
  • Cascade Tree
A shimmering spectacle made from recycled glass bottles, symbolising clarity, transformation, and eco-conscious beauty.
  • Amaya Bar Tree
A striking creation constructed from Jameson bottles, bringing a spirited glow to the festive ambience.
  • Club Tiffin Executive Lounge Tree
A classic evergreen embellished with natural ornaments — cinnamon sticks, dried citrus, pinecones, star anise, and cloves — filling the air with the nostalgic warmth of Christmas.

Each tree tells a story of renewal, proving that sustainability and innovation can shine just as brightly as long-loved traditions.

At the heart of Christmas with a Cause stands the Wishing Tree — each tag representing a heartfelt wish from a resident of the Asia Community Service Centre. Guests are invited to:

  1. Select a wish tag
  2. Fulfil the gift request
  3. Drop the gift at the Concierge

This simple act of kindness creates a meaningful ripple of joy, bringing comfort and happiness to someone in need this holiday season. No Christmas celebration is complete without Santa Claus, who made his delightful appearance to hand out goodies to both children and adults — spreading smiles all around.
