One of Langkawi’s popular holiday destinations, the Mercure Langkawi Pantai Cenang proudly joined the global movement of Earth Hour with a meaningful and engaging initiative, inviting guests and the local community to participate in a night dedicated to sustainability and environmental awareness.
The event took place on March 28, 2026 from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.
The hotel dimmed non-essential lighting across selected public areas, creating an ambient and intimate setting that reflects the spirit of Earth Hour, a worldwide effort encouraging individuals and organisations to take action against climate change.
As part of this initiative, guests were invited to enjoy the hotel’s specially crafted Earth Hour beverage, the “Green Crush”, available exclusively at the 99 Island Bar & Lounge. Priced at RM25, this refreshing drink symbolises a celebration of nature, thoughtfully curated to align with the evening’s sustainability theme.
“Earth Hour is more than just turning off the lights, it is a reminder of the collective responsibility we share in protecting our environment. Through simple yet meaningful actions, we hope to inspire our guests and community to be part of a more sustainable future.” said the hotel’s spokesperson.

The Earth Hour offered guests a unique opportunity to unwind under the night sky while embracing conscious living. The atmosphere will highlight the beauty of Langkawi’s natural surroundings, reinforcing the importance of preserving it for generations to come.
Mercure Langkawi Pantai Cenang continues to integrate sustainability into its operations and guest experiences, in line with the values of the Accor group, promoting responsible hospitality and environmental stewardship.
At Mercure Langkawi Pantai Cenang, responsible hospitality is a continuous journey shaped by genuine care for our guests, the local community and the environment we are privileged to be part of. This commitment goes beyond a single initiative, reflecting a long-term approach to operating thoughtfully and sustainably in every aspect of the guest experience.
The hotel’s Green Key Certification, awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education, stands as a recognition of these ongoing efforts. It underscores the property’s dedication to responsible practices, including efficient energy usage, mindful water management, and the reduction of environmental impact through daily operations.

That’s a lovely initiative from Mercure Langkawi. It’s great to see hotels taking steps like this to promote sustainability, especially with a specific date and time set.
