The G Hotel Kelawai is currently hosting the “Penang People and Places with Lines and Colours,” the second solo exhibition by renowned Penang artist Lim Jee Yuan, showcasing a captivating collection of watercolour and ink artworks inspired by the island’s rich heritage, vibrant streets, and everyday life.
The exhibition will be open to the public from 21 July to 20 October 2026 at the Art Gallery, Ground Floor, G Hotel Kelawai.
Through expressive brushstrokes and architectural precision, Lim’s artworks celebrate the beauty and character of Penang, offering visitors a visual journey through its iconic landmarks, heritage buildings and local communities. His distinctive artistic style captures the essence of the island while preserving its cultural identity through lines and colours.
A graduate in Housing, Building and Planning from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Lim is an accomplished artist and active member of the Royal and International Ink Painters Association, Penang Watercolor Society, Penang Art Society, and Penang Urban Sketchers. His works have been exhibited extensively in Malaysia and internationally, including at the National Art Gallery and exhibitions in China.
The exhibition reflects G Hotel Kelawai’s continued commitment to supporting local artists and promoting Penang’s vibrant arts and cultural scene. Visitors, hotel guests and art enthusiasts are invited to explore the collection and appreciate Penang through the unique perspective of one of the state’s respected urban sketch artists.
