A Penang-based culinary brand has just expanded its eatery to our neighbouring country in Medan, Indonesia.
JT33 F&B Group has just opened its outlet at Komplex Cemara Asri Medan in the heart of the city.
The outlet serves piping hot premium fish head claypot steamboat dishes which are receiving brisk response from locals. The eatery is also the first steamboat outlet in Medan.
The two-storey restaurant can accommodate some 150 guests at any one time.
“We have invested close to RM1 million in setting up this restaurant. A lot of work went into renovation, deco, kitchen and also utensils.
“Some of the equipment had to be transported from Penang to Medan,” said founder of JT Group, James Tan to Penang Hyperlocal.
Currently, the group operates in the Setia SPICE Convention Centre and has two other outlets in Bayan Baru, namely JT Steakhouse and the JT Chicken & Pasta outlet.
“We also want to go international and bring Penang food across the South East Asian region. Next, we are planning to bring Penang Prawn Mee and also Assam Laksa here,” added Tan.
The official opening ceremony was officiated by Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) Penang branch chairman Dato Seri Lee Teong Li, Lion Hasyim Se, Lions Club members and other dignitaries.
