MGUP doing charity via beauty

The term “beauty with a heart” is a cliché.

But this time around, the ladies organizing the Malaysia Global United Pageant (MGUP) are truly gems in their own right.

The MGUP is embarking on a programme to set up a home for children from the underprivileged community inflicted with cancer for accommodation and other support services.

The children are mostly from outside the state who are under-going treatment at the Penang General Hospital.

The commendable initiative is led by Ms Traccie Chan who is the pageant director, Mrs Global United Lifetime Queen (USA) and winner of Mrs Global Unite 2016 (USA).

MGUP is the Malaysian edition of the prominent international pageant which focuses on the search for women with the courage to try something new, have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fulfill their dreams while contributing to the community through the pageant’s “Queen for Kids” advocacy.

A press conference was held at The TOP Komtar recently to share and promote the event which will be held on July 1, 2023.

The National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM)has been selected to benefit from the proceeds this year. NCSM was represented by their admin manager Ms Petronilla Joseph at the event. Presently, NCSM has homes in Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh.

The home in Penang is expected to help kids and their families from the Northern Region.

Another shelter which will receive assistance is the Persatuan Dermawan Jishan Bukit Mertajam for their charitable activities.

To-date, the programme has helped more than 300 kids from all over the country.

Among the sponsors are Swisphy Watch, Whhp SdnBhd, Lamis Cafe, Rx United Sdn Bhd and others.
