Afriquoi group from UK
Two international acts from Africa and Europe, namely Safi Theatre from Tanzania and Afriquoi from the United Kingdom will grace the stage of the Rainforest World Music Festival this year.
Safi Theatre is a Tanzanian performance group that showcases improvised traditional ngoma music (drumming and dance), blending their captivating and lively shows with acrobatics in order to create an exciting mix of traditional Tanzanian music and artistic creativity.
Their performances are inspired by the richness of Tanzanian traditions and cultural diversity which they believe are not being shared enough. Proud to share Tanzanian culture and tradition with the world, Safi Theatre believes that this cultural exchange, which includes musical instruments and songs, could potentially facilitate future collaborations.
Afriquoi, on the other hand, is a UK-based group that fuses African rhythms with electronic beats, creating an incomparable sound that is both energetic and mesmerizing. Their performances are known for their high energy and their ability to get the crowd on their feet and dance.
Afriquoi is an underground sensation, bringing an uplifting fusion of African music and live electronics. The masterful 5-piece live show combines Gambian kora, Congolese guitar, and Mandinka percussion styles with electronic music drawing on house, garage, disco, soul and jungle to create something entirely unique.
Being their first time in Malaysia, Afriquoi is thrilled to be invited to perform at the Rainforest World Music Festival – to be exposed to a new environment and indulge themselves in the extraordinary experience of Sarawak.

RWMF 2023 is set to take place from June 23rd to 25th at the Sarawak Cultural Village, Kuching, Sarawak.
The festival will feature a wide range of musical performances, workshops, and cultural activities, all set against the backdrop of the stunning rainforest of Borneo.
