BCAP launch ceremony

The inaugural Beyond Contemporary Art Penang (BCAP) will be held from Nov 9 to 12th at The Wembley – A St Giles Hotel Penang with the participation of international delegates and experts.

The event will feature artistic contribution from no less than 17 countries and a diverse array of 500 captivating works of art. More importantly, It is the first of its kind to be organized in the world.

BCAP is the brainchild of Dato Chng Huck Theng who is the founder and president of BCAP.

Present at a press conference to announce the summit was State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai along with Penang Global Tourism chief executive officer, Ooi Chok Yan, Calvin Goon (Head, Wealth Management) Affin Bank Berhad and other stakeholders.

Also present was Ken Tan (AirAsia) and John Kim (Malaysian Association of Hotels Penang Chapter).

Among the notable speakers are Adrian George from the Art Science Museum and Ong Zhen Min from the National Gallery Singapore, Richard Chang, the founder of Art Kaohsiung and Art Formosa, Taiwan, Professor Dr Elizabeth Lee, CEO of Sunway Education Group, Ali Kusno Fusin, founder of Linda Gallery and Auction 33 Indonesia, Man Shek from K11 Craft & Guild Foundation in Hong Kong among others.

“It is with great pleasure to note that the gala dinner at the event will also feature an award ceremony to recognise the tireless efforts of art promoters.

“This ceremony will honour both local and international figures who have dedicated their lives to the promotion of art.

“We are proud that Penang is in the forefront of acknowledging these trailblazers in the field of art promotion,” added Wong.

He also added that the Penang government is supporting BCAP as it is the catalyst for tourism, business and education sectors.

Participants from Australia, China, the Philippines are also expected to attend.
