Malaysia’s tourism momentum took centre stage at the Get Together Penang – Asia/Africa session hosted by Tourism Malaysia and its regional partners. The gathering highlighted the strong rebound of Malaysia’s tourism sector and the vital role of collaboration with overseas offices, airlines and travel partners across Asia and Africa in restoring air links and elevating visitor experiences.

The results speak for themselves. Malaysia welcomed 37.9 million visitors in 2024, a 31.6% increase, followed by 37.5 million arrivals from January to September 2025, marking 13.5% growth year-on-year. These achievements reflect the united efforts of government agencies and industry stakeholders to rebuild confidence and reaffirm Malaysia as a must-visit destination.

As the nation prepares for Visit Malaysia Year 2026, targets have been set at 47 million visitors and RM329 billion in tourism receipts.

Tourism Malaysia’s Deputy Chairman, Dato’ Yeoh Soon Hin, expressed appreciation to the Penang State Government, PGT, PCEB and industry associations for strengthening connectivity and championing Malaysia on the global stage. With continued unity and strategic partnerships, Malaysia is poised for a successful Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
