In the true spirit of Ramadan, Shangri-La Rasa Sayang and Shangri-La Golden Sands, Penang once again came together with the neighbouring Masjid Lama Tanjung Huma to prepare and distribute Bubur Lambuk, a savoury rice porridge that remains a treasured tradition for breaking the fast among Malaysians.

The initiative, held in the old mosque of Batu Feringgi, brought together employees, local residents, and community leaders in a heartfelt display of unity and compassion.

This annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme has become a highlight of the holy month, reflecting the resort’s commitment to giving back to the community. Colleagues from both Rasa Sayang and Golden Sands worked side by side from early morning, pouring their hearts into cooking the porridge from scratch with teamwork and dedication.

Two delicious flavours — beef and prawns — were prepared in large communal pots, filling a total of 700 containers that were later distributed to residents around Batu Ferringhi. The aroma of the simmering porridge filled the air, drawing smiles and gratitude from everyone who came to collect their share.

The event was graced by the presence of Tan Sri Yussof Latiff, President of the Penang Malay Association, and Mohd Syuib Mohd Azel, Subdistrict Chief of the Northeast District. Their attendance added warmth and encouragement to the occasion, underscoring the importance of community collaboration and shared values during the holy month.

Speaking at the event, Tan Sri Yussof Latiff commended the organisers and volunteers for their dedication, noting that such initiatives strengthen the bonds between corporations and the local community. Mohd Syuib Mohd Azel echoed this sentiment, highlighting the significance of collective goodwill and cooperation in fostering harmony and mutual respect.

Rasa Sayang and Golden Sands representatives expressed their gratitude to all participants, volunteers, and community members who contributed to the success of the event. They emphasised that the Bubur Lambuk distribution is more than just a charitable gesture — it is a celebration of togetherness, gratitude, and the enduring spirit of Ramadan.
