Visit Malaysia Year 2026 is turning out to be a bumper year for Penang’s tourism industry.
Adding to the already growing inventory of Chinese airlines flying to Penang are Qingdao Airlines and Chongqing Airlines which is set to strengthen regional connectivity with the launch of its new direct flight route linking Qingdao (TAO) and Penang (PEN), commencing March 31, 2026. The latter will follow suit on April 8, 2026.
This exciting new service marks another milestone in enhancing accessibility to Penang, one of Malaysia’s most vibrant cultural and tourism destinations.
These new routes are expected to significantly boost arrivals from northern China, opening up greater opportunities for leisure travelers, business visitors and cultural exchanges between the two regions.
The timing of this launch is especially strategic as Malaysia gears up for Visit Malaysia 2026, a nationwide initiative aimed at attracting millions of international visitors through enhanced connectivity, curated experiences, and global promotional efforts.
