Following their success in winning the “Grand Masters” trophy in the 22nd edition of the PSC-Cheetah International Soccer 7s Tournament 2023 recently, an appreciation dinner was held to celebrate the success.
The competition saw the club’s Essex LaSallians beat PIss FC by a margin of 2-1..
The tournament had attracted a record number of 56 teams from Australia, China, India, South Africa, Brunei, Maldives, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sabah, Sarawak, Negeri Sembilan, Johore, Kuala Lumpur/Selangor, Malacca and Penang in the two-day competition.
Present were organising chairman Dr S. Pandiraja along with advisors Dr Shankar, Pathumanathan, Michael Lim among others in the committee.
Among the players was the oldest player in the tournament, Soon Yean Sun, 72, who also participated actively.
“My advice to everyone is to play sports despite your age as it will keep you active and healthy. Remember to enjoy lfe and not take things too seriously,” said Soon.
Officials and the winning team from the club’s football section joined hands in a cake cutting ceremony. They were also feted to a ine dinner and camaraderie.
As they are great fans of the sport, they gather every Tuesday and Friday evening to enjoy their favourite game.
