The winners with sponsors and VIP guests

After hosting a very successful Penang Matta Fair 2023 recently, where a record sales turnover of RM33 million was achieved, it was time to reward the lucky buyers.
Among the top winners were Yeow Kam Yoke who won a return ticket to Narita, Japan sponsored by MAS followed by Kam Shu Zhang who won an air ticket to Melbourne, Australia and Oh Chin Chong who also won a Qantas ticket to either Perth, Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.
Guest of honour was State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai.
He was accompanied by Penang Matta chairman Carolyn Leong, Lone Pine general manager Dato Gulab, Penang MAH chairman Dato Tony Goh, Dato Khoo Boo Lim, Tourism Malaysia Northern Region Director Shahrul Aman, Motac Hadilah Rozali from Motec, Lisa Wong representing MAG Group, Ken Tan (AirAsia) among industry players.
Wong shared that he recently attended the ITB Fair in Singapore and managed to visit two Convention centres in Marina Bay Sands and Sentosa.
“I also managed to visit their cruise terminal to understand more on the way to handle cruise travellers. I also had a chance to pay a courtesy call on the Singapore State Minister of Trade, Mr Alvin Tan for fruitful discussions,” added Wong.
“We are already planning for Matta Fair 2024 slotted for April next year. We had some 29,000 visitors this year and the popular destinations were China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan and European countries,” shared Leong adding that as for local destinations Sabah, Sarawak, Langkawi and Pahang were popular.
All attendees were treated to a fine hi-tea session put out by the F&B team of the hotel.
