Jalaludeen Ariff is the new acting GM at Opero Hotel Southkey in JB

The Opero Hotel Southkey in Johor Bahru proudly announces the appointment of seasoned hotelier Jalaludeen Ariff as the new Acting General Manager, effective from October 1, 2023.

Jalaludeen, originally from Penang, has a remarkable career history, having served in several prestigious hotels in Penang, including the Eastern & Oriental Hotel (E&O Hotel), Shangri-La Rasa Sayang and the Golden Sands Resort, Four Points Penang Beach, the former Northam Hotel, and Equatorial Hotel, among others.
He has also contributed to the hospitality industry during his 25-year journey, with notable roles at the Impiana Hotel in Kuala Lumpur and the Mercure Miri in Sarawak.
His overseas assignment took him to the Shangri-La Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia, where he excelled as the Director of Sales & Marketing.
Reflecting on his international experience, Jalaludeen noted,
“Working in a new country like Mongolia was not a ‘walk in the park’ as we had to learn the culture, language, and their habits so that we could effectively engage with and manage our local colleagues. But, as they say, where there is a will, there is a way.”
Looking ahead to his first tenure in Johor Bahru, Jalaludeen is determined to bring added value and elevate the property and guest experience to new heights. He emphasized,
“We are already establishing relationships with the management teams of hotels in our area and engaging with tour and travel agents operating in JB and Singapore. Being only 7 kilometers away from the causeway, the Singapore market is one of our top priorities.” he shared to Penang Hyperlocal.
