Having just been accredited the 5-star status, The George Penang By The Crest Collection received another accolade when they were awarded the “Toilet of the Year Award” recently.

The 5-star boutique hotel won the award for the Hotel Category.

The award ceremony took place on Monday, Oct 30, 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, where the Minister of Local Government Development YB Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Local Government Development presided.

The Toilet Of The Year award is an accolade which is the brainchild of the Minister himself.

This is in order to transform public toilets into becoming clean, attractive and fragrant to enhance the country’s image in the eyes of international tourists.

This award is also in preparation for “Visit Malaysia Year 2025”.   

The award signifies The George Penang’s unwavering commitment to providing exceptional amenities and services to its esteemed guests.

The hotel’s commitment to excellence in restroom facilities were verified by a panel of three distinguished judges from the Ministry of Local Government (Kementerian Pembangunan Kerajaan Tempatan (KPKT)), Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) and Quality Restroom Association Malaysia (QRAM).

The toilets were judged under the BMW (“Bersih, Menawan and Wangi” criteria (Clean, Appealing and Fragrant).

There were five categories that were judged in the inaugural contest this year including hotels, shopping centres, highway rest and recreation areas, petrol stations and restaurants with a total of 345 entries.  

The George Penang By The Crest Collection also won a cash prize of RM 10,000 at the ceremony.

The George uses Toto brand smart toilets in all its rooms plus its public area restrooms to ensure international class restroom amenities.
