Buyers lucky draw winners rejoice with organisers

Having achieved a record sales turnover of RM36 million at the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Penang Fair 2024, surely, it was time to rejoice.

Its chairperson Ms Carolyn Leong shared that the sales figure was well above their target of RM33 million.

“We are grateful to our valued sponsors and partners for making the fair a runaway success. Special mention to Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) Group for their contribution and sponsorship and being the official airline in making MATTA fair Penang a great success. 

“We are also very grateful for the other partners and sponsors like RHB Bank for being the main sponsor to this effect”, added Leong at the Penang Matta Fair Buyers’ Lucky Draw prize presentation ceremony held at the Penang Marriott Hotel.

She also shared that on top of this, some 39,300 visitors made their trip to the fair at the Setia SPICE Arena to make it overwhelming.

Guest-of-honour was State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Wong Hon Wai along with other dignitaries.

Among them was Dato Khoo Boo Lim (MAH national vice president), Dato Tony Goh (MAH) Penang chairman, Dato Gulab Mahatam Rai, Shahrul Aman (Tourism Malaysia Northern director), Mary Ann Harris (Executive Director for Penang Centre of Medical Tourism), representative from the Indonesian Consulate among others.

In his address, Wong congratulated MATTA Penang for their outstanding performance and looks forward to more events organised by them.

“To this regard, we will be having a busy month of June as more events are in the pipeline, among them are the Georgetown Festival, Bon Odori, Penang Bridge Run, Dragon Boat, Chingay Festival to name a few. We are also talking to more airlines to connect the Middle East and Europe. 

“All of these activities show that we have a strong recovery and I wish to thank the sponsors and partners of MATTA fair for making it a great success”, added Wong.

The top winner was Tan Teik Wah from Bukit Mertajam who won a business class ticket to Beijing courtesy of Malaysia Airline.

Another 20 other winners received various prizes from airline tickets, hotel stay vouchers among others at the ceremony.
