CM giving the thumbs up after his vaccination at the Penang GH.

Penang Chief Minister, Chow Kon Yeow became the first person to receive the Covid-19 vaccination in Penang at the Penang General Hospital today.

His vaccination was administered by matron/vaccinator, Hafisah Hamzah.

Joining the CM was Penang Deputy Chief Minister 1 Ahmad Zakiyudin Abdul Rahman and CM 11 Prof Dr P. Ramasamy.

Also receiving the vaccination was Penang CPO Comm Datuk Sahabudin Abd Manan, Penang State Secretary, Datuk Abdul Razak Jaafar and State Health Director, Datuk Dr Asmayani Khalib.

They were also joined by six other medical frontliners at the symbolic vaccination ceremony.

“There are some 31,000 medical frontliners in the state and they will be vaccinated in the first stage.

“We will receive five more batches of the vaccine in stages and we call upon all Penangites to register on the MySejahera application to receive the vaccination,” said Chow at a press conference after the ceremony.

He also urged those receiving the vaccine to continue to follow the SOPs to control and overcome the pandemic.

He also thanked the frontliners for the dedication and hard work who have worked tirelessly for the past one year.

“We will receive the second dose in 21 days. I will also have to thank the matron who administered the vaccination for me as it was fast and painless,” added Chow.
