With the ever increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the State, Penang Chief Minister, Chow Kon Yeow announced the setting up of low risk quarantine centres.
This will also include working with non-governmental organisations (NGO) to set up these centres.
“We have come to this decision further after our consultation with the State Health Department, State Director of Safety, State Secretary and other relevant parties.
“The measures are to ensure that the state health facilities do not face any collapse due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases.
“Based on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKKAV) records, to date 60% of the adult population in the state have received their first dose and 24.7 receiving their second dose,” said Chow in a press statement.
In the meantime, Chow called for more vaccine doses to be provided to the state.
