The Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) and the Malaysia Towerrunning Association (MTA) proudly announced the MAH Towerrunning Championship 2026 (MTC2026).
This landmark event serves as an industry-led initiative to position Malaysia as a premier sports tourism destination and a new addition to the country’s growing urban sports and sports tourism landscape.
The inaugural championship is scheduled to take place on 11 April 2026 at THE FACE Suites, Kuala Lumpur. The race will feature multiple race categories, including Men’s Open, Women’s Open, and dedicated categories for MAH member men, women, and group teams.
Additionally, MAH and MTA had formalised their collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking the beginning of a long-term partnership to develop towerrunning in Malaysia and strengthen the country’s sports tourism offerings.
Speaking on the initiative, Organising Chairman and MAH Kuala Lumpur Chapter Chairman BE Lim said, “Our shared goal is for this competition to grow into a recognised fixture on the tourism calendar, attracting both local and international participants. We hope it will demonstrate how hotels can serve as exciting sporting venues, opening new ways for the hospitality industry to engage with the public, youth, and the growing fitness community.”

Ravinder Singh, President of the Malaysia Towerrunning Association (MTA), said: “We thank the Malaysian Association of Hotels for this collaboration to bring towerrunning to more people by opening Malaysia’s high-rise buildings as sporting arenas. This championship unites a sport where Malaysia has produced a World Champion, with a city ranked 4th globally for buildings over 150 metres — a combination that is uniquely Malaysian.”
Akbal Setia, Head of the Visit Malaysia 2026 Secretariat, added, “Today’s travellers are looking for more than just a postcard view, they seek destinations that offer meaningful and memorable experiences. Supporting emerging sports events with strong potential is part of our strategy to develop distinctive tourism attractions, and initiatives like the MAH Towerrunning Championship contribute directly to this direction.”
The MAH Towerrunning Championship is envisioned as the first in an annual series, with long-term plans to establish it as a recognised event on Malaysia’s sports and tourism calendar. By combining urban sport with iconic hospitality venues, the championship has strong potential to attract both domestic and international participants in the years ahead.
