As the year end closes in, the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH Kedah/Perlis) chapter held its year end meeting and dinner at the Dash Resort Langkawi last week.
With most of the 2021 period having been a very challenging year for the hospitality industry, they hope to plan for 2022 under different circumstances.
Present was MAH Kedah/Perlis Chapter chairman Eugene Dass along with vice chairman Razmi Rahmat who is also the general manager of Adya Hotel.
Also present was MAH National chief executive officer, Yap Lip Seng from Kuala Lumpur.
“Among the issues in discussion were the role of MAH Kedah/Perlis Chapter to assist members facing issues on manpower and matters with authorities be it local/federal.
“While we are always on standby to assist members in any situation, we would expect individual members to play their role by handing the matter on their level too.
“Another important issue was the reopening of Langkawi Island in view of the new strain of virus. While keeping in mind the reopening to foreign tourists in the Langkawi travel bubble plan,” added Eugene.
Members were also reminded to follow SOPs at all times to prevent any untoward incidents.
The chapter also hopes to coordinate sales trips to promote their member hotels.
“Meanwhile, we are also looking at “out of the box” solutions like working with trainee college students to overcome the manpower shortage issue.
“Another initiative in the pipeline is the collaboration with Shopee to further improve our business environment,” added Eugene.
