Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Kedah/Perlis Chapter Chairman, Eugene Dass has welcomed the return of LOT Polish Airlines charter flights to Langkawi, calling it a timely boost for the island’s tourism and the hospitality industry.

“Langkawi needs more direct flights like this. It is the hope of MAH that all relevant parties play their role in positioning Langkawi and attracting more tourists. This inflow of visitors will definitely contribute to hotel occupancy and indirectly elevate Langkawi over its competitors’ destinations in view of Visit Malaysia Year 2026,” said Dass to Penang Hyperlocal.

The special charter flight by LOT Polish Airlines recently landed at Langkawi International Airport (LIA), bringing 260 tourists from Poland to the legendary island.

The arrival of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner was warmly received by Dr. Azmil Munif Mohd. Bukhari, Manager of the Tourism Division, Langkawi Development Authority (LADA); Akbal Setia, Director of Tourism Malaysia’s AERO Division, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC); along with representatives from various government and private agencies and members of the media.

Langkawi is honoured to be the destination of choice for European travellers, with this charter service being the result of continued collaboration between LADA, Tourism Malaysia, and ITAKA Poland.

A total of 21 charter flights are scheduled to operate until March 2026, further strengthening Langkawi’s position as a premier tropical island destination in Asia.

The charter flight series from Poland first commenced on 28 October 2024 and will continue through 2025 until March 2026, marking another milestone in Langkawi’s growing appeal among international visitors.
