In conjunction with International Tourist Guide Day (ITGD), Penang Tourist Guides Association will celebrate it with a series of free tours to unusual places of Penang from February 18 th to 21, 2023.
ITGD was started by the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (HQ in Vienna, Austria) in 1990 to promote the use of professional licensed tourist guides worldwide.
As a member of WFTGA, Penang Tourist Guides Association works with its international counterparts to raise the awareness of tour guiding profession in promoting tourism industry and to enhance the experience of tourists with good knowledge and personal touch.
This year’s motto of ITGD “Rethinking Tourism; Regenerating Our Profession” comes timely as PTGA has put in efforts to train and retrain its members during the Covid-19 pandemic period and to develop new tourist attraction themes in Penang like the Sia Boey Urban Archeological Park and Rifles Range.
We like to invite the public to explore these places which you may have passed by but never know the interesting story behind.
However, the number of participants will be limited and you can choose up to three (3) tours.
Present at a press conference to announce the latest developments for the celebrations was Penang Tourist Guides Association president, Clement Liang and Tourism Malaysia Northern Region director Shahrul Aman and his deputy Siti Hajar.
