Penang’s home-grown consumer brand Ghee Hiang today introduced its new Penang Series Cookies and officially launched the GH Café Corner at its Macalister Road outlet.
The launch ceremony was graced by Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai, alongside Ghee Hiang Chairman Dato’ Ch’ng Huck Theng, YB Joseph Ng, Penang Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Chairman Dato’ Tony Goh, Penang MATTA Chairman Ms Carolyn Leong, and other invited guests.
In his address, Wong congratulated Ghee Hiang on the launch of its new product series and café concept.
“Ghee Hiang is celebrating 170 years, having been founded in 1856, a remarkable milestone for a brand that is truly part of Penang’s identity. Today’s launch features Durian Cookies and Nasi Lemak with Anchovies Cookies, which pay tribute to Penang’s beloved local delicacies,” he said.

“These flavours are not only tasty, but they also tell a story. They acknowledge our rich culinary heritage and allow tourists to experience something that is truly Penang. Visitors from countries such as China, India, Australia and Thailand can now take these unique flavours home with them,” Wong added.
Meanwhile, Dato’ Ch’ng shared his delight at the launch of the new products and café concept.
“The newly introduced Penang Series Cookies feature locally inspired creations such as Durian Cookies and Nasi Lemak with Anchovies Cookies, offering a modern interpretation of familiar tastes while staying true to Ghee Hiang’s heritage and craftsmanship,” he said.
He also highlighted the GH Café Corner, a convenient grab-and-go concept where customers can enjoy freshly brewed coffee paired with warmly baked biscuits. Designed to enhance the overall retail experience, the café corner allows customers to enjoy quality beverages while shopping for Ghee Hiang’s signature products.
“This launch reflects our ongoing journey to honour tradition while embracing new ideas. By introducing locally inspired flavours and a café corner concept, we aim to offer customers a more complete and enjoyable experience,” Ch’ng added.
Guests also had a chance to sample the newly launched products too.
