Media practitioners in Penang put aside their iPads and desktops to engage in friendly rivalry with the staff of premier lifestyle developer, Eastern & Oriental Berhad (E&O) during the annual media badminton competition recently.
A total of 12 E&O employees and 16 media members from different vernacular newspapers took part in the event held at the Penang Badminton Association (PBA) hall in Bukit Dumbar.
The tourney was decided over five men’s doubles and two women’s doubles matches.
More importantly, it was the camaraderie that mattered as all participants were later hosted to a buffet dinner in E&O Hotel.
Players from the winning team each received four weekend buffet luncheon vouchers.
E&O group strategy and communications assistant general manager Ann Tan said the friendship fostered over the last four years of organising the competition has strengthened the combination and communication of the players on the court.
“Besides enhancing the ties between E&O and the local mediascape, we also aim to promote work-life balance,” she added.
Complementing the dinner were eight lucky draw prizes — Straits Quay RM50 and RM100 cash vouchers, E&O Hotel’s exclusive stackable mugs, afternoon tea for two and international buffet dinner for two.
