Doulos Hope floating library
The arrival of the Doulos Hope ship has been delayed.
The floating library was initially scheduled to arrive at the Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal (SPCT) on Saturday May 27, 2023.
Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow was supposed to launch the opening of the ship’s library at 3pm upon arrival.
A recent press statement reads –
“Doulos Hope’s planned departure from Singapore has been delayed due to unforeseen technical issues.
“She will remain in a safe anchorage outside the port of Singapore whilst we arrange a nearby port that can facilitate needed repairs.
“This unexpected technical issue unfortunately affects our immediate schedule, and we will be unable to open in Penang this weekend as planned.
“However, we look forward to rescheduling Doulos Hope’s visit to Penang in the coming months.
“Please check the website [www.gbaships.org/douloshope] over the coming weeks for updates to Doulos Hope’s schedule”.
