Playing their role as a responsible corporate citizen, the Royale Chulan Penang held a blood donation drive among their employees and volunteers.
The blood donation drive was supported by the Penang General Hospital.
By the end of the day, they managed to collect a total of 58 pints of blood for Penang General Hospital’s Blood Bank.
One pint of blood can save up to three lives, which means 174 lives can be saved as a result of the generous contribution from the hotel employees and general public.
The blood donation drive was also in conjunction with the month of October being the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The hotel also invited FiREZ Consultancy Agency representing Prudential Assurance Berhad, to set up a booth to spread awareness on how to prevent, postpone, and protect against the onset of the disease.
“We take pride in consistently contributing to the community through our various CSR initiatives. Someone lives when someone donates. Sympathy alone cannot save people in chronic conditions, but blood can. So, we are indeed honoured and thankful to be able to carry out this campaign successfully together with the Penang General Hospital and we hope to carry out more programs in the near future”. said Dennis Lee, resident manager of the hotel.
As a sign of appreciation for the blood donors, in addition to the light refreshment provided on the day itself, all successful donors were given complimentary breakfast buffet vouchers and goody bags.
Complimentary T-shirts from the hotel were also given out to the first 10 donors.
On previous occasions, Royale Chulan Penang has also organised blood donation campaigns with Hospital Sultan Abdul Halim, Sungai Petani and Penang General Hospital as part of the Corporate Social Responsibilities program.
