The Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) was honoured with the visit by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Industries 11, Che Abdullah Mat Nawi and his entourage today.

Oh hand to greet him was CAP president Mohideen Abdul Kader and his team members.

The deputy  minister was given a brief video presentation by Pn Saras on the good work being carried out for the community, schools, pre-schools and universities.

CAP has been focussing on urban farming, natural fertiliser and natural pest control methods with great response.

Their small patch of land in the CAP compound is used to cultivate various vegetables and fruits and is a hive of activity for those who want to learn about the natural farming methods.

CAP also carried out projects to teach the Orang Asli folk in the interior areas.

“I am very impressed with the urban farming methods used by CAP and their various community projects.

“Food security is one of the top agenda in the country and the committee is chaired by our Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin himself,” added Che Abdullah.

He also added that the country has ample food supplies despite some hiccups of late due to logistic issues.

He later toured the farm in the compounds of CAP to see for himself the various methods of urban farming.

Also present was state exco for Agrotech and Food Security, Dr Norlela Ariffin.
