The Penang Island City Council has embarked on a project to upgrade all bus stops in the city.
They have allocated RM1.2 million for this project. In line with this initiative, some 322 bus stops have already been upgraded.
The new look bus stops will have eye pleasing colours and also be brightly lit.
Present to announce this development was State Exco for Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning YB Jagdeep Singh Deo and his team.
Also present was incoming mayor of Penang Dato A. Rajendran
Surely, the upgraded bus stops will add value to benefit the commuters and overall aesthetics of the city proper.
“We will continue our Green Agenda especially in the times of climate crisis.
“We will continue to instill awareness to all through messages at the bus stops to create awareness among members of the public.
“I would also like to thank our council for ensuring this through this campaign. In the meantime, we will continue to plant more trees whereby we have planted 441,536 trees.
“Solar panels will also continue to be installed at all our public facilities.
“To this regard, we have achieved 100% LED street lighting now on the Island,” said Jagdeep at a press conference.
