Thanks to the Buddhist Tzu Chi Merits Society (Penang), the police headquarters along Penang Road had an automated external defibrillator (AED) unit installed recently.
The AED unit was presented by Tzu Chi Merits Society commissioner Dato Khoo Boo Leong to the representative of the police department.
AED units play a vital part in offering emergency aid for victims while awaiting for the ambulance or reaching the hospital.
The AED unit can also make a difference between the fine line of life and death in emergency situations.
The Penang State government has also been installing numerous AED units at public areas, offices, parks, places of worship and other locations which see a congregation of people.
The gesture will go a long way in ensuring the well-being of the citizens in the state.
