
The three-day summit organised by the Federation of Asian and Oceania Pest Managers Associations (FAOMA) is currently underway at the St Giles Wembley Hotel here.
Over 1,300 delegates from 20 countries are attending the gathering. They also feature 48 exhibit booths from pest companies and a pool of local and international speakers.
Present to launch the opening was State Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Wong Hon Wai who was accompanied by Penang City Council Mayor Dato A. Rajendran.
Present to receive them was organising chairman, Belven Lee, Regine Lim , president of Malaysia Pest Management Association and their committee members.
In his addres Wong shared that Penang’s economy thrives on tourism, be it for leisure or business.

“It is a sector that demands world-class cleanliness, especially in our countless hawker centres and diverse hotels. Effective pest management is not just a standard; it is a promise of health and quality to our visitors and our own community, ensuring that our good food remains safe to consume and our properties are protected.
“Our enforcement actions are not merely reactive, they are part of our proactive strategy to ensure accountability and uphold the highest hygiene benchmarks.
“Penang is a clean destination and we are constantly striving to make it even cleaner, setting new benchmarks for urban hygiene,” he added.
He also took time to visit the various booths set-up and also meet the delegates.
Themed “Evolution of Pest Management,” discussions focussed on the future of pest control, from technology and innovation to sustainability and public health, with a strong focus on technological advancements and tools for prevention.
The annual conference is the largest pest management in the Asia Pacific region, and delegates will expect a slew of discussions with international speakers,
FAOPMA Pest Summit 2025 is strongly supported by the Malaysian Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), an agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MoTAC) and the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB).
