The Dubai Airshow 2025, which is currently running from November 17–21, is proving to be one of the most commercially active editions yet.
Major aircraft manufacturers — led by Boeing and Airbus — are securing significant commitments as airlines race to modernize fleets, increase capacity, and meet sustainability targets.
Boeing Scores Big with Widebody Demand
Emirates, the world’s largest widebody operator, placed one of the headline orders of the show with the purchase of 60 Boeing 777 aircraft, further cementing its future with Boeing’s next-generation long-haul jets. This major acquisition strengthens Emirates’ position as the primary customer for the 777X program and ensures long-term expansion across its international network.

Gulf Air also boosted Boeing’s tally by finalizing an order for 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, with three additional options. The new Dreamliners will support the airline’s ongoing fleet modernization program, offering improved efficiency, extended range, and more passenger comfort on long-haul routes.
Airbus Gains Momentum with Strategic Wins
In one of the most talked-about moves of the airshow, flydubai — traditionally an all-Boeing operator — signed an agreement to purchase 150 Airbus A321neos.
This marks a historic shift for the airline as it transitions to a mixed Boeing–Airbus fleet for the first time. The A321neo will allow flydubai to expand into longer narrow-body routes and add capacity on high-demand regional markets.

Airbus’ widebody lineup also saw strong interest. Air Europa signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for up to 40 Airbus A350-900s.
This significant commitment supports the airline’s ambition to renew its long-haul fleet with fuel-efficient aircraft, while strengthening its growing transatlantic network.
A Record-Setting Airshow
With these major orders — and more announcements expected throughout the week — the Dubai Airshow 2025 is shaping up to be a landmark event for commercial aviation. Both Boeing and Airbus are walking away with packed order books, as airlines across the globe prepare for a new chapter of growth, efficiency, and modernization.
