A new dessert spot has just joined George Town’s vibrant food scene. Dolce Senso Artisanal Gelato Café, which opened its doors along Lebuh Bishop just a week ago, is already drawing steady foot traffic from nearby office workers, bankers, insurance staff and the occasional tourist.

The café is founded by 26-year-old Evan Chang, who brings hospitality experience from his previous roles at Amari SPICE Penang and the Penang Marriott Hotel, where he honed his skills behind the bar.

Now venturing out on his own—with help from his brother and sister—Evan is excited to introduce artisanal gelato infused with local Malaysian flavours.

Dolce Senso showcases 12 rotating flavours, including unique picks such as sweet potato, nutmeg, salted butter vanilla, vanilla, and pistachio cristimum. All gelato is sourced from Italy but crafted to include local inspirations that appeal to Penang’s diverse palate.

Beyond gelato, the café offers a thoughtful menu of beverages and snacks, including coffee, kombucha, gelato milkshakes, and creative treats such as Roti Benggali with gelato and Popish—a playful combination of ice cream and peanuts.

The café currently operates from 1pm to 10pm with an official grand opening slated for Saturday, December 13, 2025.

Although Dolce Senso is the first outlet under Evan’s brand, he hopes to expand to additional locations once the business gains momentum.
