In the warm spirit of Christmas compassion and community togetherness, Eastin Hotel Penang brought festive joy to Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital through a heartfelt CSR initiative that blended environmental care with the magic of the holiday season. Their mission: to brighten the days of patients and families during a time when comfort matters most.
As part of the campaign themed “A Bloom of Kindness from Eastin – Let’s Help Our Planet”, the Eastin team planted around 40 decorative plants, including vibrant Ixora and fragrant Thai Jasmine, throughout the hospital grounds.
These resilient, low-maintenance plants were thoughtfully chosen for their positive impact on both the environment and emotional well-being. Ixora, with its dense, colourful blooms, helps enrich greenery and attract butterflies—adding a touch of natural Christmas charm—while Thai Jasmine infuses the air with a soothing, calming fragrance. Together, they create a refreshing outdoor sanctuary that invites peace, reflection, and healing.
Adding a touch of festive sparkle, Eastin Hotel also donated and decorated a stunning 7-foot Christmas tree for Mount Miriam’s waiting lounge. Glowing with warm lights and adorned with meaningful ornaments and “Messages of Hope” handwritten by hotel staff, the tree stands as a comforting symbol of love, resilience, and togetherness for families spending their Christmas at the hospital.
The intention behind the initiative was simple yet deeply meaningful, to bring warmth, colour, and holiday cheer to patients and caregivers during the festive season.
The effort was led by Ms. Winnie Suzan Yip, Hotel Manager, alongside Ms. Choo Chan Chan, Director of Sales & Marketing, and a dedicated team of staff passionate about giving back to the community.
“This is our small way of spreading kindness, uplifting spirits, and contributing to a healthier, greener planet,” said Yip. “We hope the blooms and festive decorations bring a sense of peace and joy to everyone at Mount Miriam.”
