The Gurney Paragon Mall played their part to promote local talents at “The Penang 2022: Voice of Rising Star singing competition held recently.
The finals of the contest was held at the Festive Square of the mall.
The competition was co-organised by & I Am Singer & KTV together with local talent agency & Velvet Signature & the Penang 2022: Voice of the Rising Star Singing Competition.
It aims to inspire emerging artists to improve and perfect their singing skills while realising their dreams.
A total of 143 up-and-coming singers applied and competed in five preliminary rounds and two semi-finals, with the top 21 finalists advancing to the final.
“A total of 21 finalists from various states in Malaysia performed in the Final. As we present the top 21 finalists, we are anticipating fantastic performances and looking forward to these engaging young people inspiring us with their impressive voices.” said Hunza Group Executive Director, Ms. Khor Tze Ming,
She also added that as Penang embraces its identity as a hub of the arts and creative economy, we want to tap on this trajectory to enable more creatives to rise by offering them a platform to showcase their talents and perhaps, kick-start their potential in the art of singing
The winner, Tan Eng Ghee, received a grand prize of RM5000 cash, a trophy, a certificate, and complimentary hotel stays.
The first runner up was Chuah Ying Wei, second runner-up was Soo Ong followed by third runner-up, Jesse Chua Ching Ting. There was also the best Dressed award won by Chuah Ying Wei and Most Popular Award won by Jalson Lee.
