The Hompton By The Beach Penang towering 33 floors in Tanjong Tokong, hopes to be the “home away from home” by offering comforting and friendly service to guests.
Actually their name Hompton, is derived from the word “Home”.
According to the hotel’s general manager, Jimmy Chan who comes with years of experience in the hospitality industry explains that they want to differ from the others hotels by offering guests the home away from home experience.
“With our inventory of 240 rooms ranging from deluxe seaview, premium suites and family two bedroom suites, we can cater to any accommodation needs of guests.
“”Our rooms are quite big compared to the standard room in other hotels.
“The minimum size of each room is around 280 sq ft while the biggest is more than 707 sq ft.
“We target the leisure and family sector to enjoy our facilities while taking in the view of the Andaman Sea view,” adds Chan who started his career in Penang but moved on to China to work at the JW Marriott, Kempinski group and later at Genting Highlands and also in the cruise industry.
He also pointed out that their rooms do not have floor carpets due to hygenic reasons.
He added that they are running attractive offers for their room rates for limited period and target a 40 / 60 per cent composition of foreign and local guests.
“Since we do not have a big ballroom, we do not target big gathering or MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) segment, rather we like to cater for smaller groups like 50 to 60 pax for private weddings, birthday celebrations, team building, meetings and seminars.
“Other facilities include the gym, infinity pool, children”s pool, steam room and the Elementos Tapas & Lounge located on the ground floor.
“We also take pride in employing 100 % local staff and all of them are on a full-time basis. We do not even have any foreign employees on contract basis for our dish washing or housekeeping departments.” he adds.
Interestingly, the hotel’s lobby is located on the 11th floor which comes with a cosy lounge area, Spice Garden diner and the business centre for the benefit of guests.
Among the Hompton Group future plans include the expansion of their portfolio with another 3-star hotel in Kulim, a high rise hotel along Logan Road, Georgetown and tie-up hotel venture in Bayan Lepas.
