Music became a powerful force for giving recently as a sell-out crowd of 500 generous guests gathered for the Bridge of Hope Charity Dinner at St Giles Wembley Hotel, raising an impressive RM120,000 for two worthy causes, House of Hope in Penang and NEEDS Malaysia in Miri, Sarawak.

At the heart of the evening were young musicians Ava and Lea Tan, who brought together a talented line-up of young performers and singers to turn an evening of entertainment into one of compassion and giving.

The night was a wonderful reminder that charity can take many forms. For these young performers, their gift was their music, sharing their time, talent and passion to help people they may never have met, but whose lives could be touched by the generosity of the evening.

NEEDS Malaysia founder Onny Maathai, in his opening speech, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to everyone who had played a part in making the event possible.

β€œTo every one of you who bought a ticket, who bought a table, who said yes to an evening for people you’ve never met β€” thank you,” he said, while also acknowledging the sponsors, partners, musicians, singers, choir members, bands and volunteers whose contributions made the evening possible.

The stage came alive with performances by young musicians and singers, showcasing an extraordinary range of talent. Adding an especially heartwarming touch were young drummers, some as young as three years old, who delighted guests with their enthusiasm and musical ability.

Beyond the performances, however, the true success of the evening was measured in its impact. The RM120,000 raised will support the important work of House of Hope in Penang and NEEDS Malaysia in Sarawak, helping bring hope, care and opportunities to communities in need.

The event also received generous support from sponsors including Malaysia Airlines (MAS), BOH Tea, MHexplorer, COWA and Drumantics & Music, among others.

Bridge of Hope was ultimately more than a charity dinner. It was a celebration of what can happen when a community comes together, when generosity meets talent, and when young people use their voices and abilities to make a difference.
