In a bid to make Penang the choice destination for couples planning their “big day”, Penang launched its “Fall for Penang” campaign to attract couples from Hong Kong and Macau
The initiative is led by Penang Global Tourism (PGT) in collaboration with Penang Wedding Professional Association (PWPA) and HK Express Airways (HK Express) as their official airline partners.
The event was launched at the award winning Soori Penang here. Also present were influencers from Hong Kong, Jeffrey Fok Con Pong and Cherine Chiu who are in Penang for a 5-day, 4-night storytelling journey.
On hand was YB Joseph Ng State Assemblyman for Ayer Itam representing State Exco for Tourism & Creative Economy, YB Wong Hon Wai, PGT Chief Executive Officer, Ooi Chok Yan, PWPA president Dr Bryan Chew, Dato Gulab Mahatam Rai, general manager of Lone Pine Hotel among a host of other attendees.
In his welcoming address, Ng expressed his pleasure to welcome everyone from Hong Kong and participating merchants for the latest tourism collaboration campaign — “恋上槟城 Fall for Penang”.
“This campaign aims to position Penang as one of Asia’s most charming destinations for pre-wedding photography, destination weddings, romantic getaways and experiential lifestyle tourism. The name “恋上槟城”, which means “Fall for Penang”, reflects more than romance alone. It represents the emotional connection visitors experience when they discover Penang — a destination where heritage, culture, food, art, nature, and lifestyle come together beautifully.

“This campaign highlights the strength and creativity of Penang’s local wedding and tourism industry. From photographers and videographers to bridal houses, make-up artists, stylists, and wedding planners, this initiative showcases the professionalism and talent that Penang has to offer international audiences. This collaboration further strengthens tourism and people-to-people connections between Penang and Hong Kong, with HK Express playing an important role as the preferred gateway connecting both destinations,” said Ng.
He also added that as Malaysia prepares for Visit Malaysia 2026, campaigns such as “恋上槟城 Fall for Penang” play an important role in strengthening Penang’s international tourism appeal andattracting high-value experiential travellers from key markets such as Hong Kong.
In the meantime, Chew in his address expressed his sincere appreciation to Penang Global Tourism and HK Express for this meaningful collaboration through the campaign to position Penang as a premier destination for weddings, romance, culture and lifestyle experiences for the Hong Kong and Macau market.
“We are also proud to see many talented local wedding professionals participating in this initiative, showcasing the creativity and professionalism of Penang’s wedding industry to an international audience,” he shared.
Guests later took time to tour the Soori Penang’s elegant premises to take in the grand sights and accommodation facilities at the boutique hotel.
