Some 100 children from the B40 group here were presented with vouchers worth RM80 each as part of the back-to-school programme.
The corporate social responsibility (CSR) event was held at the Tiffin Cafe in Little India today.
The event was funded by the State exco for Housing, Local Government, Town and Country Planning, Jagdeep Singh Deo and local businessman, Dato Rethinam Pillay.
Due to social distancing requirements, the children who were accompanied by their parents, were invited in two batches.
Following the presentation ceremony, Jagdeep and Rethinam personally served the kids with. a sumptuous luncheon.
“We are mindful of those in the B40 group whose children are going back to school. I hope this contribution will assist them to buy the necessary items.
Meanwhile, Rethinam added that he has been funding similar projects for the past six years with the assistance of the Persstuan Kaum India Lebuh Macallum Pulau Pinang who helped shortlist the children and also comply with SOP procedures.
Rethinam also thanked all parties in making the event a success.
