
The Penang State Government has been informed that China’s Spring Airlines will commence a direct flight service from Guangzhou to Penang starting 1 February 2026.
Ticket sales for this route are already open on Spring Airlines’ official website.
The Guangzhou–Penang route is scheduled to operate three direct flights weekly, on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
The direct flight from Guangzhou to Penang, operated by Spring Airlines under flight number 9C7097, will commence on 1 February 2026, departing Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) at 6:40 a.m. and arriving at Penang International Airport (PEN) at 11:00 a.m..
The return flight from Penang to Guangzhou, flight number 9C7098, will also commence on 1 February 2026, departing Penang International Airport (PEN) at 12:00 noon and arriving at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) at 3:50 p.m..
It is also noteworthy that Spring Airlines will launch a daily direct Shanghai–Penang flight, commencing on 30 January 2026. This direct service will operate under flight numbers 9C7259/7250. The flight will depart Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) daily at 8:50 a.m., arriving at Penang International Airport (PEN) at approximately 2:30 p.m. The return flight will depart Penang at 3:30 p.m. and arrive in Shanghai at 8:40 p.m..
The launch of direct flights from Guangzhou and Shanghai to Penang by Spring Airlines will not only provide travelers with more convenient travel options, but will also further strengthen air connectivity between Penang and major Chinese cities and international hubs.
This development is expected to promote tourism exchanges, trade and business activities, as well as cultural interactions between the two destinations, injecting new momentum into Penang’s international accessibility and tourism industry growth.
