The “Love Our Turtles: IKHTIAR Foundation Call-to-Action 2025 (LOTIF2025)” program was officially launched today at the Penang Town Hall, Georgetown.

Representing Penang Chief Minister YAB Chow Kon Yeow was YB Fahmi Zainol, EXCO for Agrotechnology and Food Security & Cooperative Development.

Also present was Penang Mayor Dato A Rajendran and Khairul Azar Omar, Co-Founder of IKHTIAR Foundation among others.

LOTIF2025 is organized by the IKHTIAR Foundation with the support of the Penang State Government and co-organized by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP), with CIC Capital Consultancy Sdn. Bhd. appointed as the implementing partner.

In his address, Fahmi said that  Penang has expanded forest reserve areas, introduced a green infrastructure policy, and set new sustainability targets across various sectors.

“We have also planted over a million trees, and today, Penang records the highest household recycling rate in Malaysia. These are not just numbers; they are proof that a small state can achieve great success when it refuses to choose between progress and care,” said Fahmi.

This campaign runs from 15 August to 14 September 2025 and aims to promote marine conservation through education, culture, and multi-stakeholder collaboration.

Carrying the theme #PulanglahPenyu (“Return, Turtles”), this initiative aligns with Malaysia’s ASEAN 2025 Chairmanship theme: “Inclusivity and Sustainability.”

Key events of the program include the Love Our Turtles Exhibition, the International Sustainability Congress on 3–4 September 2025 co-organized with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and the Turtle Release Ceremony on 14 September, to be officiated by His Excellency Tun Ramli Ngah Talib, Governor of Penang.

A total of nine side activities and six workshops will also take place throughout the program.

All activities are designed to raise awareness, promote eco-tourism, and encourage public participation in environmental protection.

Members of the public are invited to participate in all exhibitions, programs, and workshops.
