The Soroptimist International Club of Penang (SIP) is embarking on a fundraising campaign to raise much needed funds to help the needy and underprivileged community.They will hold a gala dinner entitled “East Meets West Dinner and Dance” at the St Giles Wembley Hotel on Friday, September 6, 2024.
They hope to raise RM200,00 towards their charitable projects.
The evening will feature a special performance by award winning soprano Tan Soo Suan.
“Our theme East Meets West is the best way to showcase the harmonious fusion of Eastern and Western cultures through fashion and music.
“Among the other highlights is a fashion show by Doublewoot, an established online fashion house from Penang headed by Helen Tan”, said organising chairperson Datin Karen H’ng.
The night will also feature a salsa dance show by Darwen Tolentino followed by a raffle draw promising amazing prizes.
Among the sponsors are Amee Philips who is donating a diamond and gold necklace worth RM26,000.
Other donors are Vanessa Diamond, Juin, Above Fitness, Bibis Boutique, Dayang Bay Resort, Haku Extraordinary Japanese Cuisine, The Wine Shop, Suffolk House and Macalister Mansion to name a few.
Meanwhile, according to their president Puan Suraya Ibrahim, the club is a global entity in over 124 countries and stands at the forefront of advocacy for girls and women who are facing challenging circumstances.”We have invested more than RM500,000 todate through our education fund and are currently supporting 15 students with their university fees”, she said adding that they are collaborating with University Malaya to rehabilitate abandoned shrimp ponds in Kuala Muda in line with their environmental projects.
